Ottomans are versatile pieces of furniture which can be used as coffee tables, additional seating options and footstools. They are a popular choice for interior designers for accessorising and drawing together room schemes.
On this course you will learn to upholster your own ottoman from scratch. It is a great introduction to some of the foundation techniques of upholstery and upholstery sewing. You will learn about webbing to create the support, templating and manipulation of foam and how to template and sew your top cover and make piping cord to finish your piece.
You will take home a beautiful, professional looking ottoman with your own choice of legs, choose from hairpin, turned wood and straight legs for the look you want.
The ottoman project is suitable for complete beginners and you will be guided step by step through the techniques needed by our expert tutors. The course runs alongside our weekly courses and you’ll be provided with your own workbench and tool rack to use while you’re here. The school is a fun and inspiring workshop you’ll meet other creative people with a variety of projects on the go and see their ideas materialise at the same time as your own.
3 days - Cost for course, frame, legs and materials is £500 plus 1.5m of top fabric.
